Netflix Announces New “Little House on the Prairie” TV Series

Netflix has officially greenlit a fresh new TV adaptation based on Little House on the Prairie, the classic book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

A New Take on an Iconic Story

Jinny Howe, Netflix’s vice president of drama series, shared her excitement about the project. She said, “Little House on the Prairie has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many fans around the world, and we’re excited to share its enduring themes of hope and optimism with a fresh take on this iconic story.”

Dean Butler, best known for his role as Almanzo Wilder on the original Little House on the Prairie TV series has also expressed his excitement about the new adaptation. He took to social media to share his thoughts, signaling his support for the upcoming project. The new take on the beloved story hopes to appeal to new audiences and longtime fans of the series.

Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for her work on The Boys, The Vampire Diaries, and Archive 81, will serve as the showrunner and executive producer. She will be joined by Joy Gorman Wettels of Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly from Friendly Family Productions, and Dana Fox and Susanna Fogel.

CBS Studios and Anonymous Content Studios will produce the new series for Netflix. Notably, Trip Friendly is the son of Ed Friendly, who produced the original Little House on the Prairie TV series.
