State Governor to visit the Far South Coast

The New South Wales Governor is set to tour to the state’s Far South Coast next week.

Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, and international arbitrator, Dennis Wilson, will visit Bega, Bermagui, Cobargo, Narooma, Moruya, and Mogo between the 27th to the 30th of November 2024.

The Governor said she was looking forward to the trip.

“To meet the many inspiring locals, community organisations, and business groups supporting and empowering the thriving, innovative, and vibrant communities of this beautiful part of New South Wales,” Ms Beazley said.

Youth, disability, and circular economy will be a focus during the Governor’s visit to Bega.

Ms Beazley will explore programs at Tulgeen Disability Services, meet staff from local Youth Justice Community
Offices, visit the Bega Women’s Resource Centre and Sapphire Community Pantry, and learn about the Bega Circular Valley initiative when she’s in town next week.

A Chamber of Commerce reception will round out the day in Bega.

In Bermagui, the Vice Regal Couple will meet members of local CWA branches at the Bermagui CWA Cottage, and tour Australia Oyster Coast’s onshore facilities and oyster leases.

They will visit the Tilba Winery and Ale House in Corunna, meet students and teachers at Cobargo Public School, hear from community members involved in bushfire recovery efforts at the Cobargo RSL Memorial Hall, and attend a BBQ with Cobargo RFS members at the Cobargo Rural Fire Brigade Station.

After exploring the beauty of Barunguba-Montague Island with NSW NPWS staff and rangers, the Governor and Mr Wilson will meet Narooma High School students and teachers, hear from Eurobodalla Shire Council members about Council plans, challenges, and initiatives, and meet Elders and members of the Mogo Local Aboriginal Land Council to learn about the Fire to Flourish and other programs.

The four-day visit will be rounded out with a Community Reception in Moruya to celebrate and thank locals and community leaders for their contributions, and a visit to the Mogo Trails to hear presentations from Eurobodalla Shire Council representatives and watch demonstrations by Mogo Public School students.
