South Coast police officer charged with assault

A police officer has been charged over the alleged assault of two teenagers while on duty in the Eurobodalla almost a year ago.

On the 31st of October 2023, a senior constable attached to the South Coast Police District allegedly assaulted two 17-year-old teenagers while trying to break up a fight at a Shopping Centre in Batemans Bay.

Both teens were arrested; however, later released without charge.

Following an investigation, on Tuesday September 3, the officer was issued a future court attendance notice for two counts of common assault.

He is due to appear at Batemans Bay Local Court on 14 October 2024.

The officer is currently suspended with pay.
