It was Patrice Clear that sealed the win over Great Britain in extra time with a breakaway try for the Tagaroos 37s side. She was also voted Player of the Tournament.
It was a huge achievement by all three players just to make the team, let alone bring home the cup.
Back in local Ladies League Tag over the weekend, the Bega Chicks recorded a convincing 46-4 win over the Cooma Fillies at the Dog Pound over the weekend while Tathra were too good for Eden in Jindabyne coming away with a 24-10 victory
The Bomabala High Heelers take on the Tathra She Eagles this Saturday while Eden will travel to Moruya to face Bega with all four teams playing for a spot in the Group 16 League Tag Grand Final.
Meantime in the Reserve Grade action over the weekend, Eden recorded a strong 34-26 win over the Moruya Sharks with Lincoln Stewart crossing for two tries for the Tigers.
In the other game Bega Halfback Will Gray-Balcomb was the hero in the in the Roosters v Bulldogs game.
The teams were all tied up at 16-all, in the Elimination Final but Bega got a penalty 45 metres out at the death, leaving Gray-Balcomb with the task of kicking a penalty goal, after the siren to win the game – which he managed.
Bega players rushed Gray-Balcomb and lifted him onto their shoulders after the kick that gave the Roosters a 2 point victory and kept their 2024 finals campaign alive.
In the Men’s First Grade, Merimbula-Pambula were too strong for Tathra, coming away with a 38-22 win in Corey Schafer’s 150th game for the Bulldogs.
Thomas Hughes and Kye Kelly crossed for two tries each while Clay Ellison, Grant Moon, Hank Kennedy and Toroa Rapana scored one try a piece.
In the other game the Moruya Sharks went down 58-24 to the Snowy River Bears.
And in the Under 18’s, Batemans Bay has a 20-16 win over Moruya and Merimbula-Pambula went down 18016 to Narooma.
