After being closed for six weeks, the Salvos Store in Bega has reopened with a new look.
The second-hand goods shop, underwent some minor renovations as well as a change from a Salvation Army Family Store to a ‘Salvos Store’ so the team could continue to offer the local community a place to shop, donate and connect.
The store will continue to raise funds that will go directly back into local community and will enable The Salvation Army to provide great support to those locally in need.
Area Manager of Salvos Stores ACT & Far South Coast, Bronwyn Vynan, told ARN Bega, the community was to be welcomed back by the same great team as well as some new friendly faces.
“The store has had a huge makeover, a good lick of paint and a freshen up, there’s a new space for homewares, it’s all colour-coordinated, and it’s a great new shopping experience for people of Bega and surrounding areas,” Ms Vynan said.
The new store officially opened today (Thursday May 16) and will have new trading hours of Monday to Friday 9am-5:30pm and Saturday 9-5pm.
“We’re really excited to open up the space to the public and invite the community to come and celebrate the opening with us on Thursday,” Ms Vynan said.
Bronte from Bega was one of the first shoppers in on Thursday morning, to snag a few bargains. She only had good things to say about the experience.
“I think it’s amazing, it’s needed a bit of a spruce up for a while, and they’ve done an amazing job with it all,” she told ARN Bega Bay.
“It’s very busy and everyone’s in really high spirits, I like everyone loves it, loves the change and bringing in that fresh change and fresh atmosphere.”
The new look Salvos Store will be well stocked with a wide variety of pre-loved clothing, accessories and homewares. In addition to the items the community have come to expect from the store, it will stock brand new mattresses and a range of new products, including cleaning supplies, socks and sweet treats, to support the ever-evolving needs of the community.
Donations are always welcomed, and those looking to donate are encouraged to do so Monday to Saturday during opening hours.
For those with larger items to donate, free home collections can be arranged by calling 13 72 58.
National Director of Salvos Stores, Matt Davis, said as a long-standing member of the local community, they are excited to transition this fantastic store to a Salvos Store.
“We are looking forward to continuing to grow with the community and continue to offer this vital service whilst the wider Salvation Army team continue to support those most in need,” Mr Davis said.
Bega local corps leaders, Henry and Cindy Roehrig, will be officially opening the new store.
