Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor

This is an exciting full-time, permanent opportunity, based at the Moruya Administration Office. This diverse role is positioned to promote a safety and well-being culture across the organisation. Your main duties will include: – Taking a lead role in the development, implementation and review of the WHS Management System. – Facilitating a proactive/generative safety culture highlighting the importance of task-based risk identification and assessment. – Conducting and evaluating WHS training across all of Council’s operations, consistent with agreed training strategies for workers. – Providing professional advice, guidance and assistance to all levels of staff with regard to WHS and chain of responsibility. – Overseeing and participating in WHS and wellbeing projects to ensure compliance with WHS legislation. – Ensuring safe working systems are maintained and improved across Council. The starting salary for this position is $82,379.89 gross per annum plus 11.5% Superannuation. Skills Required

We are looking for a committed and experienced WHS professional to play a pivotal role in the development, implementation and maintenance of Council’s WHS Management System, safety programs and initiatives across Council. Safety will be at the core of everything you do, and you will have strong influencing and negotiation skills, along with a strong customer focus. To be successful, your application will also demonstrate the following: - Recognised qualification in WHS (e.g. Diploma/Degree in WHS or equivalent accreditation) supported by relevant experience. - Demonstrated knowledge and proven ability to successfully apply WHS legislation and an awareness of contemporary WHS practice and industry trends. - High level skills in both written and oral communication together with a demonstrated ability to communicate to all levels of the organisation. - Trainer/Assessor qualifications and proven training skills both in the classroom and person to person (essential for entry at higher grade). - WHS Auditor qualification and experience (essential for entry at higher grade).
