Cobargo is set to get a carpark upgrade thanks to a $100,000 election commitment by the federal government.

The project will provide improved access to the local netball and basketball courts as well as the Narira Park Sportsground.

The works will include at least 28 new car parking spaces, including at least one accessible parking space, pavement repair, bitumen seal and line-marking – and are scheduled to be completed by June 2025.

Eden Monaro MP, Kristy McBain, said the project is funded under the Investing in Our Communities Program and will make a real difference for Cobargo families.

“Since the court was opened last year, it’s been well used and loved by the community, and this project will add to its usability,” Ms McBain said.

“Congratulations to the community for campaigning for this project – I can’t wait to see it delivered.”

Bega Valley Shire Council Mayor, Russell Fitzpatrick said Bega Valley Shire Council will take on the work, and hope to have the project finished by next year.

“Often important aspects of our facilities like parking get overlooked, this funding will allow us to complete the missing piece of the puzzle to support the recently improved recreation facilities in Cobargo,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.

“Without the funding provided by the Federal Government it is unlikely we would have been able to deliver this wonderful and important community project.”
