A body has been found during a search for a man missing in the South East.
77-year-old, John Locker, was last seen around 1pm on Monday in Cooma, with family reaching out to the public for help finding Mr Locker who suffered from a medical condition.
Mr Locker’s dog and his Toyota Hilux single-cab tabletop were located in Kiah Avenue, Cooma, around 10:30pm on Friday (May 3). Council rangers attended and confirmed it to be John’s dog, ‘Sophie’.
Officers attached to Monaro Police District, with assistance from PolAir, the State Emergency Service (SES), Rural Fire Services (RFS), NSW Marine Rescue, and ACT Police were involved in land and water searches.
During the extensive six-day search by emergency services, which included police text messages that were sent to residents in parts of the Far South Coast, the body of a man, believed to be Mr Locker’s, was discovered on farmland, 10km south of Cooma, about 6pm on Saturday (May 4).
Police have said initial inquiries indicate there are no suspicious circumstances.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
