Five different Bega Valley residents have been represented on the big stage as part of this year’s Australia day celebrations, receiving an Order of Australia medal.
It was all part of Australia day celebrations, with Bega Valley Shire council also announcing their 2024 citizen of the year awards.
The five receiving an O-A-M were Robert Johnson of Bermagui, A-J Collins of Tathra, Colin Dunn of Pambula – along with Darrell Hegarty and Michele Bootes of Merimbula.

Meanwhile the region’s 2024 citizen of the year is Carina Severs, Senior Citizen of the year is Flo Young, and Young Citizen of the year is Tarra Glover.
